Abby is a Palomino Tobiano mare, born the spring of 2007.
Abby arrived at ANFH on June 11, 2025 with her bonded gelding Cotton. When Abby first arrived, she was in need of extensive farrier care and very basic health maintenance. She was extremely withdrawn and very mistrustful of humans. She had clearly had some extreme trauma, especially with her halter and being touched. It was obvious that she had a very broken soul. However, as the days pass, Abby is starting to come out of her shell, and is starting to trust! She is the sweetest girl and her soul is beginning to heal. She loves her treats, and is starting to enjoy being brushed!
Abby will spend the rest of her days with Cotton by her side here at the rescue.
Cotton is a black and white Overo gelding, born the spring of 2006.
Cotton arrived at ANFH on June 11, 2025 along with his bonded mare Abby. When he first arrived, he was in need of extensive farrier care and very basic health maintenance. He was also extremely sensitive to light and was showing some early signs of a metabolic disorder. After all of this was taken care of, Cotton has shown his true self. He is a very outgoing guy and is quite a character! He loves his treats and will never turn down a good scratch!
Cotton will spend the rest of his days with Abby by his side here at the rescue.
Max is a clydesdale that originally came to ANFH for the purpose of being a friend for Myles, as they were the same age. Little did we know, that Max actually needed rescuing. Max was very withdrawn, and was terrified of people. The only interaction that he ever had with a human, was when he was pinned in the stocks and forced into getting his hooves trimmed. When Max finally arrived at A Nicker For Hope, we knew this broken soul was going to need time to restore his spirit. After a few months at the rescue, he is a completely different horse. His spirit is alive and his soul is so gentle. He loves to play with his toys, is constantly running and playing with Myles, and he loves to share quiet, special moments with his humans and have them hold his head while he sleeps.
Myles was an orphan wild foal that was found by Steff & Kris Carlson at just 2 days old. You can read Myles full story on our “about us” page. He is the inspiration and “mascot” behind A Nicker For Hope Foundation.
Myles would like to welcome you to ANFH
